Diego Hernandez, MD, is a Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon, who specializes in the treatment of vein conditions and peripheral arterial disease. His Bloomfield Hills office was the first Outpatient Based Lab (OBL) established by a vascular surgeon in SE Michigan, with the purpose of providing unparalleled and comprehensive vascular care by offering diagnostic and treatment services in an office setting.

The only clinic in Metro Detroit founded and operated by a vascular surgeon with over 20 years of experience, Bloomfield Vein & Vascular offers patients the kind of care that is expected of an office that specializes in vein and vascular conditions.
Experience and expertise are essential when providing diagnostic and treatment options for those patients who are affected by vein and vascular problems. The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) has awarded BVV with the distinguished status of an accredited vascular ultrasonography facility, ensuring that when patients undergo an ultrasound, the results are of the highest standards. We are proud that we acquired and maintained this status since we first opened our doors, in 2015.
Our team of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals, including our two exceptional Nurse Practitioners, Jessica and Natalie, our talented vascular ultrasound techs, our specialized vascular nurses and the amazing support staff at the front office and within the angiography suite, are all dedicated to ensuring that patients are provided with the greatest quality care in an environment that is warm and welcoming.

Our focus is on the treatment of vein and peripheral vascular conditions using minimally invasive approaches. We established Bloomfield Vein & Vascular in 2015 to offer patients a safer, more efficient and more cost-effective way of treating these complex problems. Our team of professionals is completely dedicated to provide you with an environment that is friendly, safe and compassionate. BVV stands as the most established facility in Metro Detroit providing these services under the direction of a board-certified Vascular Surgeon.
We use IntraVascular Ultrasound (IVUS) to “see” inside your blood vessels, allowing us to obtain precise measurements in cases that we must choose a balloon or a stent to treat your condition. In cases of contrast or IV dye allergy, or in patients with impaired kidney function, we can use CO2, a gas that does not affect the function of your kidneys, while still allowing us to image appropriately. These technological advancements are not offered by all providers that claim to treat these conditions and is why we have an unmatched safety record in Metro Detroit for performing thousands of procedures with excellent results.

Vascular Surgery is the medical specialty that involves the diagnosis and comprehensive long term management of disorders of the arteries, veins, and lymphatic systems, but does not include vessels / arteries within the head or heart.
Board-certified Vascular Surgeons have significant experience with all aspects of treating patients with all types of vascular disease, including diagnosis, medical treatment, and reconstructive vascular surgical and endovascular techniques.
In addition, Board-certified Vascular Surgeons possess the advanced knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive care to patients with vascular disease; understand the needs of these patients; teach this information to others; provide leadership within their organizations; conduct or participate in research in vascular disorders; and demonstrate self-assessment of their outcomes.
