Metro Detroit’s Leading Expert in Vein and Vascular Disease

Dr. Diego Hernandez

is a Board Certified Vascular Surgeon with over 19 years experience treating a wide variety of vein and vascular problems. Bloomfield Vein & Vascular is also the preferred choice by patients when seeking a 2nd opinion regarding their vascular care.

Conditions & Treatments

Varicose Veins

Common symptoms associated with varicose veins include the feeling that your legs are achy, heavy and tired. Sometimes restless legs can be attributed to varicose veins. In advanced disease, varicose veins can lead to changes in the color of the skin by the ankle and open sores.

Leg Swelling

Swelling can be associated with different medical conditions. As specialists in vascular problems, we can determine if your swelling is related to a blood flow issue. Often swelling is treated with water pills but this is not always the answer, particularly if your swelling is only seen on one leg.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

PAD is the result of blockages inside the arteries that carry blood to your legs. Patients might experience pain or tightness of their muscles when they walk or might develop pain at rest. In some cases, inadequate blood flow may result in a wound. If you have diabetes, sometimes PAD does not cause symptoms until it is too late. As experts in this area, we can diagnose this condition and develop treatment plans involving minimally invasive approaches.

What a great and refreshing experience it is to be patient of Dr. Hernandez. The entire staff is friendly and engaging, plus the office is nice and modern too. I was a bit nervous to receive treatment but Dr. Hernandez spent a good deal of time explaining my condition, how to treat it and the benefits I’d later experience. His level of clarity and expertise is a very pleasant rarity these days — and to be treated as an individual rather than just another case is what separates this practice from other so-called vein treatment centers. His professionalism is indicative of the entire staff and is what makes BV&V the top consideration for anyone suffering from vascular or vein issues. Thanks Dr. Hernandez!

I highly recommend Dr. Hernandez for any vein and/or vascular issue. He was the third and final vascular surgeon I met with. I could not be more satisfied with my treatment and care from the moment I walked in through my follow up visits. I found the staff knowable, caring and professional. Dr. Hernandez took the time to explain everything from the beginning to the end of my procedure which really helped eliminate my anxiety. His staff did an excellent job of communicating with me and keeping me calm and informed throughout the entire procedure. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone!!

Lisa F.

I have to share my excellent experience at Bloomfield Vein and Vascular. I was met by the most friendly and helpful staff at the front desk as well as the knowledgeable medical staff. They really stood out as attentive and made me feel very comfortable before each of my procedures of which I had several. I had to have an ultrasound the first visit and the technician was ready to leave at the end of the day and stayed after to accommodate me. Dr. Hernandez was professional, helpful, and listened to all my concerns. He took extra time and care to answer all my questions. He provided me with multiple options for my diagnosis and guided me to the best treatment plan and successful outcome. I highly recommend Bloomfield Vein and Vascular and have since referred several friends.
